My Approach

My style is warm, relational, intuitive, and trauma-informed. I work from an attachment lens by prioritizing our therapeutic relationship to build a container of safety and trust.

In addition to the Somatic and Depth approaches detailed below, I also blend elements from: Parts Work (Internal Family Systems or IFS), Nonviolent Communication (NVC), Strengths-based, Family Systems, Feminist, and Humanistic therapies.

Mind-Body
Somatic Therapy

Soma: the body

Through the use of somatic (body-based) therapy, I’ll help you reconnect with your full self – the whole version of you, balancing mind and body wisdom.

I work experientially, which means we’ll include your present moment, felt-sense experience to discover direct insight and avenues for change.

I may invite you to use mindfulness in session, which is simply the ability to notice your experience while it is occurring, with a kind and curious attention. You need not be a meditator to practice mindfulness in therapy. Together we’ll work to develop your natural human capacity to observe feelings, sensations, and needs.

Somatic therapy training:

  • 6+ years of study and training in the Hakomi Method of mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy, the Re-Creation of the Self (R-CS), neurobiology, attachment, character strategies, and trauma-informed practices

  • Yearlong internship at the M.E.T.A. Clinic (Mindful Experiential Therapy Approaches), now renamed the Hakomi Institute of the Pacific Northwest

  • Ongoing study, supervision, and consultation with Certified Hakomi Therapists and Trainers

Depth Psychology

 Psychology:
Psyche: mind, soul, or spirit
+ logos: to study

A depth orientation, or study of the soul, aims to look beneath the surface to access hidden jewels within.

We value the power of the unconscious—those deeper, unseen parts in ourselves that impact our lives without our full awareness.

Using curiosity and imagination, we’ll explore the symbolism behind your experiences, dreams, or symptoms. Symptoms are valued as meaningful - we work compassionately to understand why they developed rather than merely get rid of them.

Depth psychology training:

  • M.A. in counseling psychology with emphasis in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute

  • Coursework in psychodynamic therapy, dream tending, Jungian studies, imaginal psychology, archetypal symbols, and authentic movement

  • Yearlong internship at the Portland Processwork Clinic (formerly River’s Way Clinic) through the Process Work Institute
